This week, a man I've known almost since I was born was shot and killed in his car.
I didn't always agree with his politics or philosophies. Correction: I didn't often agree with his politics or philosophies. Regardless, I always respected and loved him.
He was a generous, loving man. When he and his wife couldn't conceive, they adopted. After adopting 4 beautiful kids, they were blessed with 2 of their own. They adopted more. They had a total of nine children at the time of his death.
As a new wife and a future mother, my heart aches for his family every minute.
Godspeed, Dan O'Brien. I learned so much from you, and I'm glad that now, you know. I won't forget the things you shared before you were called home, and I will try to learn to be as loving and generous as you were.
I never understand when things like this happen. But I suppose my best friend does, so I'll trust he know's what he's doing.
